Project Description

SSHP

American Society of Health System Pharmacists

The Student Society of Health-System Pharmacists (SSHP) is a professional association that represents student pharmacists who intend to practice in hospitals, health maintenance organizations, long-term care facilities, home infusion, and in various other clinical roles of the health care system. The organization includes students at the local (SSHP), state (PSHP), and national (ASHP) levels by providing programs and resources concerned with career opportunities, residencies, and the ever expanding role of clinical pharmacists as part of the health care team.  The organization has developed close ties with the Northwestern Chapter of PSHP (NWPSHP), allowing students to network and receive mentoring from area pharmacists.  Monthly meetings are held at LECOM and Student Chapter members are also invited to attend the monthly NWPSHP meetings.  Student Chapter members are strongly encouraged to join either one of the parent organizations, PSHP or ASHP.  This affords the opportunity to participate in events at the state or national level.  The organization is involved in many community service projects, including poison prevention programs for children. The club participates in monthly NWPSHP meetings at local restaurants and in the annual summer picnic, providing an opportunity to socialize with area pharmacists.
